March’s Arches

We were thinking about our van life during our European summer, so we tricked out our CR-V with a bed and headed East to find the sandstone in southern Utah and Northern Arizona. The first stop on our road tip was Arches National park. It’s a place we’ve both wanted to go to for a long time, and we were excited to finally explore! We were up with the sun, and headed in.

Early March meant a light dusting of snow with clean, crisp air and a gorgeous blue sky above. We hiked a ways down the Devil’s Garden trail, hiked to the super iconic Delicate Arch, and finished our day exploring “the Windows.”

Our first arch! It was rad to stand under this thing
The landscape arch, it’s so skinny!
On a little hike along these cool stone ribs

We made sandwiches at a picnic area where we could see the delicate arch wayyyy in the distance! There was no way we weren’t hiking up to that thing after seeing it from far away. After a quick hike up a really cool huge slab of slickstone, the trail winds along the top of the formation. Suddenly, it turns a corner and there stands the arch! It was as beautiful as we expected it to be. It seems so improbable that such a beautiful arch would stand alone in an otherwise barren bowl, but there it was! It’s no wonder this arch is so famous.

It’s so lucky that this arch exists!
What a great window!

After a great day, we popped down to Moab for snacks and a beer before finding a quiet spot to cook dinner and camp!
